Suspect arrested in violent Wayne County kidnapping

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in a violent kidnapping.

Sheriff's deputies say 23-year-old Braddock Bernard Gross III kidnapped Justin Edward Kornegay at gunpoint on Aug. 24.

Gross is accused of then shooting Kornegay in the leg before beating him in the face and body.

During the abduction, authorities say the suspect stole the victim's bank card, forcing him to make several withdrawals at gunpoint in Mount Olive.

Gross faces several charges including kidnapping and assault with intent to kill. He's being held on a $800,000 bond.
