Michael Strahan watches anxiously as Matthew hits Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Michael Strahan, a familiar face from the ABC family at Good Morning America also nervously watched Hurricane Matthew hit North Carolina.
Strahan has some strong family ties to the Sandhills, so he spoke to ABC11's Amber Rupinta Wednesday about how the flooding disaster has hit him personally.

With a military father, the GMA co-host spent several years living in Fayetteville.
"I grew up in Germany after age of 9, but when I moved to Germany I moved from Fort Bragg," Strahan told ABC11. "My dad was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division."
As Hurricane Matthew headed towards North Carolina, he too watched anxiously.
"I have my twin girls living in Wilmington," Strahan explained. "They lost power, fortunately for them no flooding or anything, but they did lose power."
Strahan said even though they lost power, his daughters' cell phones still worked, and he was able to communicate with them during the storm.
"I was happy, that made me feel a lot better about the situation, but I know so many other people in the Wilmington area, as well as the Fayetteville area, suffered so much loss," Strahan shared. "So my thoughts are still with them as well."
Strahan expressed how hard it is for him to see people suffering when he's familiar with that area and people that he still knows are there.
"I think this is the great test of the human spirit, and anytime I've ever seen something like this, the spirit always wins," Strahan said. "So my heart and thoughts and prayers are with everyone there in North Carolina and I'll be thinking about you, definitely."
