The crash occurred on NC HWY 55 Broad Street at Wilbon Road in Fuquay-Varina. The accident involved two vehicles, a 2004 Ford SUV driven by Calvin M. Stevens Jr. and a 1992 Ford Taurus driven by Doretha W. Scriven.
The investigation has determined that Scriven was turning left onto Wilbon Road from Hwy 55 Broad Street and failed to yield to the on coming vehicle driven by Stevens.
Both drivers and the two passengers, a 8-year-old boy and 4-year-old boy, in Scriven's vehicle were transported to Wake Medical Center for their injuries.
The 4-year-old later died from injuries sustained from the accident. The 8-year-old is still in critical but stable condition at Wake Med. Scriven is still hospitalized as well for her injuries.
It was determined after speaking with families members of the child and Jeff Cruden with the Wake County District Attorneys office that no charges will be filed against Scriven.
