Two adults and two children are dead following a collision between a car and a logging truck in North Carolina near the Virginia line.

The state Highway Patrol says the crash happened Thursday afternoon on a highway west of Winton in Hertford County. Troopers are investigating.

Highway patrol spokesman Lt. Everett Clendenin says four people, including two children died in the collision. One child survived. However, officials originally said that child also died.

Clendenin says the truck driver was from Northampton County and was not seriously injured.

The highway patrol is trying to figure out what caused the crash.
