Hope Mills woman beaten during home invasion

HOPE MILLS, NC Investigators say John McKoy, 28, beat his girlfriend for about a half hour in her Hope Mills home.

McKoy allegedly kicked in the front door of the home on Elcar Street at around 3:00 a.m. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the victim had been stabbed, choked and had numerous contusions on her face. She is in serious condition at a hospital.

"Basically from her forehead down, everywhere, she had blood everywhere. She was just basically covered in blood… it was like a nightmare situation," neighbor Brian Middleton said. He says he'll never forget the banging and screaming at his door from the 27-year-old woman.

Authorities say McKoy is no stranger to this type of violence against woemn. He's been locked up nearly 30-times and faces numerous assault charges against females. Middleton says he's not surprised. "Apparently about a month ago police were out her like three times and they did arrest him. But I guess she refused to press charges and because of that now she's back in the same situation only worse."

Investigators believe McKoy is armed and dangerous. They're also taking steps to protect the victim at an undisclosed hospital, according to Debbie Tanna with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. "We have intel that tells us that he has been calling around to hospitals here in the community trying to find out where she is. That's why were not releasing her name or the hospital where she's located. We're trying to keep her safe."

McKoy is being sought on numerous felony charges and detectives are asking for your help in locating him.

Anyone with information as to McKoy's whereabouts is urged to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500.
