Man charged with killing cyclist

RALEIGH

According to police, 36-year-old Ernest Lee Moody struck and killed 38-year-old Ronald Keigh Saul. Saul was traveling on Capitol Blvd. around 6 a.m. on his bicycle.

Police say Saul was struck from behind by a car driven by Moody. Moody and his son then got out of their car and left the scene on foot.

After police arrived at the scene, they determined the abandoned car was the one involved in the crash.

Moody is charged with felony hit-and-run, felony death by motor vehicle, DWI and misdemeanor child abuse. The child abuse charge is a result of the age of Moody's son -- not because of physical harm to the child.
