A federal report is not good news residents along North Carolina's coastline. It says much of the coast is vulnerable to rising sea levels. Large sections of the area are less than two feet above sea level, and large chunks of that have been heavily developed.

The study, which focused on states from North Carolina to New York, says if the sea level rises 3 feet during this century, some barrier islands will break apart. The report says the Outer Banks are especially vulnerable.
