Gas leak closes downtown Fayetteville streets

FAYETTEVILLE Crews fixed the leak and traffic returned to normal just after 1 p.m.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, a gas line on Russell St. near Ray Avenue ruptured around 11:40 a.m.

Officers were dispatched to the scene to assist with traffic. Russell and Franklin streets from Winslow to Maxwell streets were temporarily closed.
