Counties cutting summer school programs

HARNETT COUNTY Summer school classes had already been planned, but when leaders found out about new budget reductions at the state level, the decision was made and approved by the school board.

Harnett County school leaders sent out a letter last week saying they are not able to fund summer school this year.

Officials say testing and retesting of EOGs and EOCs for kindergarten to eighth grade students who don't meet standards, will continue.

High school students will be able to go for credit recovery at an academic support center. That is slated to run from July 7 to Aug. 13. The center also offers study through online courses for credit recovery.
