911 caller spotted bodies night before

RALEIGH

Investigators are waiting for the medical examiner to tell them why Ray Ausbon, 21, and Zachary Tigner, 19, died.

Their bodies were found on a fire escape at the Boylan Apartments at 817 Hillsborough Street Saturday morning.

Police say they don't suspect foul play.

In a 911 call released Tuesday, a caller says the men were on the fire escape Friday night when he moved into a third floor apartment above them.

"I seen these guys that are passed out and called out and said, 'Hey, are you guys alright?' I assume they're drunk. I come back this morning - they're in the exact same position. One of them is straddled over the rail. His neck is over the rail. He's turning blue. His (inaudible) are looking swollen. He's drooling from the mouth. The other guy's laying back."

According to his obituary, Ausborn graduated from Apex High School in 2007 and was a student at NC State University majoring in accounting.

Tigner also graduated from Apex High and attended Gardner-Webb University. He had recently enlisted in the United States Army and was to report for duty on October 4.
