School bus hit by garbage truck, students hurt

GARNER

The bus was on the way to Timber Drive Elementary School just before 8:30 a.m. when the crash happened.

The garbage truck hit bus 786 in the driver’s side, near the rear of the bus.

Garner police said four children on the bus were complaining of minor neck and back injuries.

A Wake County EMS spokesperson said there were 24 students on the bus who were not injured. Another bus was being dispatched to take those children to school.

Parents of all the children involved were notified.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
