High temperatures linger across the state

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for 21 counties in central and southeastern North Carolina.

There is a chance for storms Monday afternoon, with temperatures dropping a bit in the evening into Tuesday. However by mid-to-late week, temperatures are expected to climb back up with highs back into the upper 90s to 100 once again.

Last week, Raleigh-Durham International Airport recorded a record five-day triple-digit streak that ended Sunday.
