Man returns with gun after not getting hired

JONSTON COUNTY

The incident happened at Hales Group Fabricating on U.S. 70 in Clayton, according to WTSB.

The sheriff's office says 50-year-old Stephen Melvin of Goldsboro walked into the business with a gun but left before deputies arrived.

Melvin reportedly applied for a job with the company in April and was upset because he wasn't hired. Deputies located him in Kenly and took him into custody.

He is charged with breaking and entering and possession on a firearm by a felon. Authorities say Melvin did not point the gun at anyone.

According to court records, he was released from prison in January 2010 after serving more than eight years for a 2003 robbery, kidnapping and assault in Durham.

Melvin was being held in the Johnston County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
