It's the first phase of a major Falls of Neuse Road widening and realignment project. In a news release, the city said it provides motorists and pedestrians with a new route to subdivisions and other locations in far north Raleigh.
Phase I realigns Falls of Neuse Road from Fonville Road to New Falls of Neuse Road with the new bridge that connects to the Wakefield Plantation subdivision across the Neuse River.
Sometime after Oct. 15, the DOT plans to close the existing bridge over the river and replace it with another new bridge.
