Police seek killer in city's first homicide of 2012

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.

Curtis was found early Sunday morning outside the American Legion Marshall Pittman Post No. 173, at 401 Madison Street. He had been shot and was rushed to Nash Healthcare Systems where he was later pronounced dead.

Police called it a homicide and are looking for a black man, believed to be around 35-40 years old, 5-feet-7-inches tall, and weighs 175 pounds. They said the man was wearing a gold, denim jacket, pants, a black shirt, and brown Timberland boots. Police said the suspect may have been driving a white Honda Accord with a black hood, and they said another black male was inside the car.

The Rocky Mount Telegram said Curtis' death is the first homicide for Rocky Mount in 2012.
