Soldier found dead inside apartment

An 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper was found dead inside his Fayetteville apartment Monday morning.

Officials at Fort Bragg said Pfc. Christopher Lundquist was found inside his apartment off post in the 5400 block of Basking Ridge Drive off Morganton Road.

He was a radio and satellite operator with Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 3rd Battalion, 82nd Aviation Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division.

The 25-year-old from Lancaster, California joined the Army in May 2011 after completing basic combat training at Fort Benning, Ga.

During his service, Pfc. Lundquist was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

He is survived by his daughter, Bridget Riley, and his mother, Ms. Rorie Desieyes.

His death is currently under investigation by the Fayetteville Police Department.
