Police said the accident happened just after 2 a.m. on the Durham Freeway, near Duke Street.
According to officials, one car with two people inside slammed into another vehicle in the overnight construction zone. The driver of the car that was hit sped away from the scene.
The car responsible for the accident remained at the scene. The driver and passenger of that car were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
