The National Weather Service in Raleigh confirmed Wednesday that a short-lived tornado hit Johnston County Tuesday night.

A survey team said the EF0 twister, packing winds of 65 to 85 miles per hour, is what destroyed an old two-story tobacco barn near the 2700 block of Old Beulah Road in Micro. Micro is about 8 miles northeast of Smithfield.
