Apartment fire near North Carolina State campus

The fire started at the University Commons Complex just after 4 a.m. The complex is located at 1501 Graduate Lane.

A fire broke out at an apartment complex near N.C. State's campus early Saturday morning.

The fire started at the University Commons Complex just after 4 a.m. The complex is located at 1501 Graduate Lane.

According to a police report, the fire was started by an improperly discarded cigarette.

There are 12 units at the building and all residents were evacuated. Officials said 25 people are now displaced.

No one was injured.
