The 6 month old passed away at Duke Hospital in Durham.
Neighbors told ABC11 the fall happened around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. That's when they heard a fire truck and police.
"The baby looked purple. I saw in the ambulance. They were giving it CPR, where they were patting him down," said neighbor John Marans. "I was worried why they were still standing there and not rushing to the hospital. So I was thinking there was nothing they could do maybe."
Neighbors are calling it an accident. They say the baby was on the bed with its father when it fell and was severely injured.
Police are investigating the baby's death. However, they stopped short of calling it suspicious.
