The break happened around midnight on Huntleigh Drive, off Capital Boulevard near an I-HOP restaurant.

The road had to be closed in both directions, because City of Raleigh Public Utilities Department staff had to drill a large hole in the street to access the broken eight-inch cast iron pipe.
Crews were able to repair the main around 9 a.m. and restore water service to all customers in the area.
Huntleigh Road was reopened to traffic around noon. It is unclear what caused the pipe to break.
