Fayetteville man allegedly kills person arguing with his mother

FAYETTEVILLE

Around 5 a.m., authorities heard gunfire erupt inside 32-year-old Derrick Paul Randle's home in the 5000 block of Doc Bennett Road.

When deputies arrived, Randle came outside, fell to the ground, and surrendered to officers. He told authorities that he was trying to break up a fight between 48-year old Christopher Lloyd Williams and his mother when he shot Williams.

Williams, of 24 Jud Street, Fayetteville, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he later died.

Meanwhile, Randle has been charged with voluntary manslaughter.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
