A white four-door Maxima traveling north on Glenbrook Drive fired shots into the yard striking the boy.
The child did not suffer life threatening injuries. He was taken to Duke Hospital.
Authorities tell Eyewitness News that it appears to be some type of bird-shot that struck the boy.
Police are currently looking for the vehicle and the shooter.
