Deputies received a number of calls saying Taylor was trying to leave the park when several staff members surrounded him in swampy woodland.
Taylor is charged with first degree rape. He's being held under a $300,000 secured bond.
Authorities say he has an extensive felony record including several breaking and entering convictions, assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer and escape from a correctional facility.
