Capital Area Greenway body identified

RALEIGH Thursday, the victim was positively identified as Homero Zuluga-Patricio, 26, of Raleigh. His death is being ruled a homicide. His body was found across the street from Primary Beginnings Childcare, in a section of the Capital Area Greenway. A passerby reported seeing what appeared to be a body in the water.

The body was recovered from the creek and his remains were transported to the N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill.

Clothing items associated with the body were released Wednesday in an effort to assist in the identification of the individual.

His belt buckle has a "Z" design on it; the dark-colored pants have a small logo between the belt loops and the right rear pocket; and the shoes are white Air Jordan's with green trim.

Public Information Officer Jim Sughrue says in order to preserve the scene around the point where the deceased person was located, the Capital Area Greenway was closed temporarily between Glenwood Avenue and Northbrook Drive until Thursday.

Anyone who might have information on the circumstances surrounding the case is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department's Detective Division at (919) 890-3555.
