Teen charged for toddler hit-and-run

According to Rocky Mount Police, a 3-year-old girl was struck Wednesday night.

The accident happened around 7:15 p.m. near the intersection of Barnes and Cherry streets.

Rocky Mount EMS responded to the scene and took the girl to Pitt Memorial Hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The driver, 19-year-old Emmanuel Coley, returned to the scene of the incident about two hours later.

Coley is charged with felony hit-and-run and for driving without an operator's license. He is being held in the Edgecombe County Jail under $10,000 bond.
