Cumberland County sheriff's detectives arrested 53-year-old Richard Elderfield of Salisbury for committing sex crimes against children.
He's being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $2,000 bond and is charged with taking indecent liberties with a child.
His stepson, 39-year old James David Parris of Fayetteville has been held since September 2008 for sexually molesting an 11-year-old girl and her older sister. Bond for Parris is set at $2.8 million.
Elderfield allegedly became involved in inappropriate behavior with a 7-year-old autistic child while she and her family were visiting a home in Fayetteville in March 2004.
The information was disclosed as sheriff's detectives began investigating new allegations of sex crimes against Parris.
Elderfield is expected to make a first court appearance today.
