Deputies: Accused killer turns himself in

Cumberland County deputies say a robbery suspect has turned himself in to face a murder charge.They say 26-year-old Antonio Jones of Hope Mills was taken into custody around 9 p.m. Friday. Detectives say he beat and robbed 48-year old Dale Freeman Meredith and left him lying in a ditch. It happened Wednesday night on Trailwood Drive on Highway 301. Meredith was taken to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill where he died Friday morning. Jones is charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently being held in the Cumberland County jail.
