Mother, child killed in street race wreck

CHARLOTTE, NC According to police, 45-year-old Cynthia Furr was turning out of her southwestern Charlotte neighborhood Saturday onto Highway 49 when a 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse slammed into her Mercedes.

Furr and her 2-year-old daughter died shortly after the wreck, while 13-year-old Hunter Holt, a passenger in the Eclipse, died Sunday afternoon.

The driver of the Eclipse, 20-year-old Tyler Stasko, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Police are trying to determine who was driving a Camaro they say was racing the Eclipse at the time of the crash.
