Man attempts to rob supermarket

DURHAM Police say a man entered the store shortly before 2:30 p.m. and went to the customer service counter. They say he showed an employee a gun in his waistband and demanded money.

The employee said he told the suspect he would have to get the money from the office. But, the suspect fled without taking anything after he saw the employee get a gun from the office.

The suspect was wearing safety goggles, a white dust mask, a white UNC baseball cap with "Heels" on the front, a gray T-shirt, light-colored jeans and work boots. He left in a gray, two-door Buick Regal.
