In Oxford, a home was destroyed by a fire at 3126 Tom Hunt Road. The homeowner said he had left for breakfast and was just sitting down when he got a call that his house was on fire.
Strong winds whipped up the blaze and firefighters said the structure was fully on fire when they arrived. Cold temperatures froze water around the fire trucks making their job even harder.
Nobody was hurt and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, there was another fire at a home at 1532 Clydesdale Court, southwest of Franklinton. Three people inside got out alive, but one suffered burns to a foot.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to a small part of the house, but there is significant smoke and water damage. The cause of that fire is also under investigation.
