Man accused of intentional crash

RALEIGH

It happened Tuesday night near the intersection of Sawmill Road and Longstreet Drive in Raleigh.

Andrian Bermel Edwards, 27, of 900 Lake Front Drive, Apt. E, Raleigh, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and misdemeanor child abuse.

Police said Edwards was arguing with his girlfriend when he steered the Acura he was driving into the path of a Ford Expedition driven by 70-year-old Julia Murphy Raynor.

Raynor is in critical condition at WakeMed.

Edwards' girlfriend and their 4-year-old child - who was in the backseat - were not seriously hurt.

Edwards is being held without bond.
