A 12-year-old, a 13-year-old and a 17-year-old went to the pond to fish. Two of the boys were in a small boat when it began to take on water and overturned.
The 13-year-old was on the bank at the time but swam out to the boat after it overturned. He was able to assist the 12-year-old to safety.
The children say they did not see the 17-year-old after the boat overturned.
Divers recovered the body of Hector Ochoa Velasquez just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Authorities say the drowning appears to be an accident and no charges have been filed.
