Police shoot suspected robber in Oxford

Investigators say a police officer shot and killed a suspected robber in Oxford Friday morning.

Police said it happened after a robbery at the Nationwide Insurance office on Gilliam Street around 10:15 a.m.

A police officer spotted a man matching the robber's description on Railroad Avenue and struggled with him.

Forty-year-old Ike Hutcherson was shot and killed during the struggle.

The police officer's name has not been released. The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the incident.
