Turnpike Public Workshops

RALEIGH

· The Triangle Parkway workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Research Triangle Foundation Headquarters, located at 12 Davis Drive (northwest corner of I-40 and Davis Drive) in the Research Triangle Park.

· The Western Wake Freeway workshop will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Halle Cultural Arts Center, located at 237 N. Salem St. in Apex.

No formal presentations will be given, and participants may drop in at any time during the workshops.

Representatives from the project teams will be available to provide construction updates and other project information, as well as answer questions in an informal setting. Information will also be available regarding NC Quick Pass, the electronic system that will be used to collect tolls on the Expressway.

Once complete, the Triangle Expressway will run 18.8 miles from Interstate 40 at N.C. 147 in Durham County to the N.C. 55 Bypass in Holly Springs in Wake County. It will include the 3.4-mile Triangle Parkway that will span from I-40 at N.C. 147 to N.C. 540, and the 12.6-mile Western Wake Freeway, which will stretch from N.C. 540 south of I-40 to the N.C. 55 Bypass in Holly Springs. It will also encompass a section of existing N.C. 540 from N.C. 54 to N.C. 55.

The Triangle Parkway is scheduled to open to traffic in December 2011, and the Western Wake Freeway is set to open to traffic in December 2012.
