Make A Wish delivers big for little girl

FAYETTEVILLE

As one of her biggest wishes comes true, it's a birthday she will never forget thanks to the Make A-Wish-Foundation.

Stokes, her sisters, mom and dad will spend next week at Disney World, where the young princess will get the royal treatment.

"It's a chance to give a child their hearts desire," said Elizabeth Godwin, Make-A-Wish. "We are giving her a week down in Disney, and she will be able to go to the Bipity Bop Boutique."

The experience is the chance of a lifetime for Stokes, who suffers from sickle cell anemia.

"She is only 5 years old and she has had three surgeries, and it's been a struggle in and out of hospitals," father Reggie Stokes said.

Stokes' mother, Latrice, says her daughter has wanted to go to Disney for years.

"Since she was two, she has wanted to go to the princess castle, so it means a lot to me to see her have this moment she is never going to forget," Latrice said.

The family leaves for Disney on Sunday.

Reggie is a civilian contractor working in Iraq, but he was able to get time off for Madison's birthday.
