Firefighters battle a blaze in Raleigh

Firefighters rushed to a home in southeast Raleigh Friday morning after a 911 caller reported flames shooting from a window.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Thames Ct.

Firefighters had the blaze under control within 15 minutes.

Officials reported a mother and a 9-year-old son suffered smoke inhalations and were taken to a local hospital. 

The Red Cross is helping out the family.
