Sketch of rape suspect released

A woman was attacked in the parking lot of Fayetteville Department of Social Services. Now, Fayetteville police have released a composite sketch of the suspect in the rape.

Shortly before 5 a.m. on June 3, the victim was crossing the parking lot on Ramsey Street when a man approached her, asked for a cigarette, and offered her a ride in his car.

When the victim got in the car, the man allegedly pulled out a knife and forced the woman out of the vehicle. The victim attempted to fight off her assailant and run away, but the suspect chased her down and sexually assaulted her. After the assault, the man got into his vehicle - a newer model 4-door sedan, burgundy or dark blue in color - and drove away.

The suspect was described as:

  • Black male, medium skin tone
  • 5'7" to 5'9
  • 180 lbs
  • Short cut hair with neatly trimmed long sideburns
  • Goatee
  • Wearing a white tank top, light colored blue jeans, and black doo-rag
