One Apex mother shared video of her child's bus stop with ABC11. The video shows the bus arriving to pick up Megan Stocker's child at 8:35 a.m., which is five minutes after school is scheduled to begin.
Stocker said there has been one day since the school year started that the bus never showed up at the stop at all.
"Today one of the boys on our route had a test and he was substantially late for school again," Stocker said.
Stocker and her neighbors arranged a car pool to get the children in the neighborhood to school on time, but not all parents have that option.
Raleigh dad George Thorne doesn't have a car, so his 5-year-old son missed school today.
The bus to Cary's Northwood Elementary was an hour late Monday morning to pick up Thorne's son. When the bus finally arrived, Thorne was inside his house calling the school.
"Kai's screaming 'Daddy, daddy, the bus!' So I come out flailing my arms saying, 'Hey! Yo!' The bus didn't even attempt to stop," Thorne said.
It has been two weeks since Wake Schools Superintendent Tony Tata held a news conference where he accepted responsibility for the logistical problems the school system has seen so far.
The Wake County Public School System has added dozens of buses since the first day of school, but problems persist, and parents are tired of excuses.
"There's no excuse. If you are consistently that late for your job, I'm sure they'd fire you," Stocker said.
