Under the proposal, adult admission would be $7 in advance of the fair and $9 at the gate.
Gate admission for children ages 6-12 would go from $3 to $4, with a $1 discount for buying tickets in advance.
Now that the N.C. Board of Agriculture has given the go-ahead for an increase admission fee, the proposal still needs final approval. The new ticket prices are subject to final approval by the board later this year.
The last change in admission prices occurred in 2010.
