Children playing found the body near the end of North First Street at its intersection with Johnston Street just after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says the remains belong to 59-year-old Howard Pearce of 116 Rainbow Court.
Due to the condition of the body, the Medical Examiner was unable to determine the exact cause of death.
