McCrory said it will essentially be a clearing house for ideas and resources to promote school safety in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting and other school tragedies.
The governor didn't offer much in the way of specific proposals about how to make schools safer and didn't talk about specific funding for the program.
He also didn't say if the state will give schools incentives to help pay for safety upgrades or will just offer "best practices" suggestions for them to implement themselves.
Through the month of April, there will be eight public hearings around the state where people can offer ideas on school safety.
As for where the money will come from, we'll get a look at the governor's proposed budget Wednesday morning, which may offer more details.
