Work on Fayetteville's Strickland Road to be sped up

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.

Friday, Fayetteville announced construction on the Strickland Bridge Road project will be finished a month earlier than a speedup that was announced last month.

In March, the North Carolina Department of Transportation said it had moved up the expected completion date by six months. Friday, city leaders said the DOT has reached an agreement with the contractor to speed up the work even more. Replacement of the bridge over Rockfish Creek is now anticipated to be completed by August 1 or sooner.

While the bridge over Rockfish Creek is being replaced, Strickland Bridge Road will be closed at Fisher Road (starting at Hackney Loop) with a signed detour along Fisher Road, Lakewood Road, Rockfish Road, and Dundle Road.
