2 injured in deputy-involved crash in Johnston County

CLAYTON, N.C.

Troopers say the deputy was responding to a call around 4 p.m. Monday when he crashed into a car at the intersection of Little Creek Church and Steel Bridge Road, which is east of Clayton.

Two people from the other vehicle were transported to WakeMed with non life-threatening injuries.

Troopers say Deputy Jose Esquivel was responding to a call when he failed to yield the right of way and struck the car with his cruiser.

The deputy did not have his lights and sirens on at the time of the accident.

The deputy was not injured.
