Town of Cary officials say a semi-truck was offloading behind the store around 1:30 p.m. when between 200 and 300 gallons of sodium hydroxide solution was found broken inside the trailer. It was also spilling out of the rear of the trailer.

Some of the solution got on the truck driver. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say the chemical did not get into any water sources. They say it is like a stronger hydrogren peroxide and can cause burns.

The Parkway Pointe Shopping Center was evacuated as a precaution. All businesses will reopen Thursday.
