Police investigate train incident in Raleigh

RALEIGH

Police say an Amtrak conductor believed that the train may have struck someone. They searched densely wooded areas on either side of the track.

The incident happened around 8:40 p.m. Friday near the State Fairgrounds and Interstate 440.

It involved Train 76, the Piedmont, which operates from Raleigh and Charlotte.

Beryl Road at Hillsborough Street was closed for part of the evening.

The train was released from the scene at approximately 10:15 p.m.
