The shooting took place in a parking lot at Commerce and Elizabeth Streets around 9:40 p.m.
Durham police said the victim told officers he was walking down Liberty Street near Railroad Street when an unknown vehicle came by and started shooting at him for no reason. The man said he then ran to Commerce Street.
The victim was shot twice in the leg. His injuries appear to be non-life threatening.
The investigation is ongoing.
