Two men in custody after series of Cumberland County burglaries

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says 21-year-old Steven Lee Nicholas Dawkins of Dome Road, Hope Mills and 20-year-old Steven Nicolas Taylor of Shem Creek Drive, Fayetteville have broken into nearly a dozen homes that have been robbed of valuables.

Deputies have warrants for felony breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods and obtaining property by false pretenses.

Investigators say the men case homes in various neighborhoods, wait for owners to leave their property, and break in by kicking down the front door.

Some of the items stolen from the homes include guns, electronics, televisions, clothing and jewelry worth thousands of dollars.

Both suspects are being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center. Bond was set at $10,000 for Dawkins; Taylor's bond was set at $20,000.
