WGHP Fox 8 TV reports 22-year-old Jermane Darnell Clark was shot just after 11 p.m. at an off-campus address.
Clark was rushed to Moses Cone Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The team website lists Clark as a sophomore linebacker majoring in psychology.
There was no immediate word on suspects.
