The soldiers are from the Army's 50th Signal Battalion, which began deploying earlier this week.

The group is now headed to Senegal to aid in the Ebola response.

The soldiers have been trained on Ebola but their mission is to install a communications network around the hot zone. The Army says they won't have direct contact with Ebola patients.

"They're ready. They know what they're going there for, what the potential threat is. But the area they're gonna be in has been evaluated as very low risk for exposure," said Lt. Col. Bill McDowell.

The soldiers are prepared to be in West Africa through September.

They'll be quarantined for 21 days when they return to U.S. soil.
